Monday Morning Perspecrive

Sunday was a great day at both Fairview campuses. July 4th weekend got the best of the numbers but hoping everyone had a great vacation and will be back with us this Sunday. My husband brought an incredible message. We got to meet so many visitors after the service at the main campus and they spoke of how much the message meant to them. CrossTalk brought it with great worship songs and lots of energy. So thankful that God allows us to be on the front lines watching Him work!
We continued our series Live in Light Walk in Love in the book of 1John. We looked at how to deal with sin. Some of my favorite points made were...
...we confess sin to keep our fellowship pure, not our salvation secure.
...failing to confess sin robs us of joy, fellowship and our effectiveness.
...confession should be like breathing. Confess as we go.
...satan works in generalities making us feel worthless. God puts His finger where there is sin.
...forgiveness isn't about our feelings. It's about His faithfulness and He is faithful to forgive us.
...2:2 tells us He died for the sins of the world which shatters the belief by hyper Calvinists that say He only died for the elect.

Monday Morning Perspectve

Sunday my husband led us through the passage John 8:31-36 on how to be truly free. Many are enslaved to different kinds of sins and our only hope for freedom is through a relationship with Christ. As a country we may declare our independence and self rule but as followers of Jesus we declare our dependence on God and give up self rule.
Freedom doesn't mean we will be free from trials or temptations, but we can be free from sins of our past, fear of the future, and free from worry.
Stop believing the lies that we can find freedom in being our own boss and fulfilling our desires. Those things bring bondage and destruction. We have freedom when we follow Jesus and desire what He desires. Know the truth and the truth will set you free.

Monday Morning Perspective

I know I'm later than normal this Monday morning, but it's been a busy one. We had to load the car and as I write we are heading to Atlanta to deliver John to work for NAMB as part of Gen Send for the next six weeks. If you have room on your prayer list, please pray for him and the team in Atlanta! These students will be serving the city and sharing Jesus in many ways and in some very dangerous areas at times. Your prayers won't be wasted and you will be part of a great movement I assure you.
Ok, so yesterday was Father's Day. I hope it was a good one for all. I was blessed to watch my two boys share the pulpit with their dad to share their testimony and answer questions that so many of you sent in. For those of us in ministry, to have your children stand with you and speak from their heart about their relationship with Jesus, well, it's just priceless. We all hope it was encouraging
to you.  Like they said, we failed at things as parents and children, but we can all learn from each other. If you have some time, check it out online but here are some pics to enjoy. Btw...the young ones crashed like their dad yesterday afternoon. I think they have a new appreciation for how exhausting, physically and mentally, it is to do 3 services at 2 different places. But they're all champs and God gives strength and it's amazing to be used by him and serve people.
