Monday Morning Perspective

Yesterday was a great day at both Fairview campuses. We are so blessed with our worship teams who lead us. We are equally blessed with so many volunteers who work hard to make everyone feel welcome and make it a positive experience. From our parking lot volunteers to our greeters and those serving at our tents and guest services and of course our coffee servers, we have a great team at Fairview.
We continued Running on Empty...I don't have to be lonely, with a passage from 2 Timothy 4. We saw how Paul struggled with loneliness and feelings of being deserted. This message brought attention to that emotion that is so often not talked about or shared. It's good to remember that Jesus experienced the same feelings of loneliness that we do. Family and friends deserted Him as His message turned to the subject of the cross. The disciples deserted Him. Even God the Father had to turn His back on Him as He became sin for us. We can be encouraged that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us no matter what. He experienced loneliness so that we don't have to. Have a blessed week and start today inviting others to join us Sunday. We see each week that its working to invite others!!

Monday Morning Perspective

Running on Empty means...I have no fears! I loved this message. For someone who has always struggled with fear of many kinds, this message both convicted and comforted me.
I love how it started with the question,  how do churches grow? We all know that preaching, worship, children's ministries can keep people or send them running but getting people there for the first time comes down to inviting people. God blesses where He chooses but our part is to invite and bring people. And that's a huge fear to so many!
We looked at Timothy and the fears he had even as a young pastor. We saw the destructive power of fear and the delivering power of faith. As Eddie explained we fear what we feel we do not have the resources to deal with or the power to overcome. However, as believers, we have the Holy Spirit within us and Satan and his demons are no match for Him.
There were so many good points from this message that I could write all day. Check it out online if you missed it or just want to hear it again.
A special treat is always hearing what God does through messages that impact people all week. I got to hear some worries that were let go of after last week. Everything from the worry of how to dress for church to health issues. Yesterday I got to meet a young mom who came with one of our members for the first time after being asked for four years!!! Never give up on people. Keep inviting!! On a day you least expect it and they need it the most, they'll say yes! Can't wait to hear some stories of how God is breaking the chains of fear from people. Have a God filled Monday and invite someone to come with you next week!

Monday Morning Perspective

Yesterday was another great day at both Fairview campuses. I love seeing people excited as they come to church. Our faithful members continue to come and serve and bring people. We continue having lots of visitors. Eddie and I love meeting them and connecting with them after the service.
We were in week 2 of our Running on Empty series. The empty tomb means...I have no worries. Some great points from the message...
...worry means to choke, strangle, pull apart. How many times do we feel like we are being choked by worries?!
...worry is not a virtue.
...we crucify ourselves between 2 thieves, the worries of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow.
...we trust Him with our salvation but not our problems.
...worry at best is useless and at worst destructive.
...when other things come first, everything else is out of order. Put Jesus first!
...trust Him. He's got you and He's got your problem.
...the only worry we should have is if we don't know Him.

Monday Morning Perspective

This Easter was the busiest but greatest of any I can remember. What an amazing day as we launched Fairview East! Months of praying, meeting, planning, working, preparing paid off as 75 adults showed up, children were in children's church being led and 4 people received Christ! God showed up and showed off. Celebrating the risen Jesus with birthing a new church was a glorious event. I can't begin to thank the ones involved. Many prayed and supported this effort from day 1. Turning young adults loose to take charge and make it happen was exciting to watch. They work tirelessly! People from our main campus came to help with our children. And shout out to my husband who races across town after an 8:30 service to preach at the 10:00 and then back for the 11:00, you are a beast! I'm amazed at your passion and energy and the love it takes to agree to take it to this level every Sunday! Thank you for not coasting at this point of ministry!
I left a tad early and got back in time to hear our opening at the main campus. Ashley Blevins killed Forever! I thought Kari Jobe was in the house. Then CrossTalk took it to another level of worship. I had goosebumps all over! The house was packed. I love hearing greeters say they're having trouble finding seats for people. Both campuses followed Eddie's leadership to invite invite invite!! You guys are the absolute best!! You are the key to getting people to come week after week! We love you   Keep working it and handing out invite cards, it works!
We started a new series called Running on Empty. We will be spending the next weeks looking at what the empty tomb means: no fear, no worries, no loneliness. Yesterday's was I am loved and I can live forever because of the empty tomb. A beautiful gospel message was given and people responded. My takeaway from the message was, what if Paul and Silas, the jailer and Lydia , among others, had kept the good news of salvation to themselves? We would be forever lost. And if we keep it to ourselves church, others will be forever lost. Let's not be guilty of that. Let's share it with everyone so others may know the reality of the empty tomb.
Loved having my whole family for the day and enjoying Easter dinner together. We watched A.D. It was amazing. If you missed it tune in next Sunday! It's worth the watch and great to watch with your family and friends!
I went early to East to help with setup this week, so here are a few pics. It takes people sold out and ready to work hard to make it all happen and so here's a glimpse. Pray for this group as they will be doing this every Sunday morning.

Time flies when you're having fun

When I was growing up, I lived very close to my grandparents. We spent lots of time with them. Not only Sunday dinners and weekends at the lake but vacations and traveling trips as well. My Dad always said my grandmother was a great backseat driver. She always sat right behind him in the car. She liked to tell which way she thought was best and if it took longer than she thought to get somewhere she would always ask him if he was lost. They had a great relationship so the banter was fun and playful, however at times I'm sure it got under my Dad's skin.
I feel like at times I've played a great backseat driver role with God. I've questioned Him along the way. I've told Him how I thought things should be. I've told Him the direction I thought we should go and the shortcuts that were available. And more than once I thought I was lost along the way. One thing I've learned is God cares very little about shortcuts. He's into the long haul. He sees time differently anyway. And we never get lost following Him!
Today marks two years that my husband became lead pastor at Fairview. God took us on quite an adventure ride to get us here. At the time I would've preferred a short cut but now I wouldn't trade the long way for anything. It set the stage and the pace for all He had in store. And we both had a lot we needed to learn. We knew for several years before that He was up to something and that probably included a move but we just had no idea. We wrestled with what He wanted for us. Was it an established church? Was it planting a church? What type of church? What type of ministry? Legit questions. And once we totally let go and just went along for the ride, He began to answer and the joy and fun hasn't ceased. He did end up leading us to an established church that was headed in the same direction as our hearts! And now we are starting a new campus which has been much like planting. You see what we thought had to be one or the other, God was thinking both.  Sometimes He's a both/and God because He is the immeasurably more God. We've learned not to put boundaries on Him, He's just gonna move them anyway!
I've never understood people thinking that the Christian life is boring. Life following Christ is never boring because He's not boring. He's doing a new thing. I'm not sure why we so often settle for the same old thing. Maybe that's why we are bored and assume He is too.
It's been anything but boring these past two years. I'm so thankful He loves us enough to keeping doing a work among us. I'm so thankful He's not bound by time or age or what we think. I'm thankful that at a time in life when most people settle in and begin to coast, God looked at us and said "no way, not having that". I'm so glad He's not done with us even when people seem to be. I'm thankful for the vision He gave my husband and for the burn He put in both of our hearts to follow Him to Fairview. It's been one God sized thing after another, providing all that we need to do what He's called us to do and I'm believing Him for even greater things. He ain't done yet, and neither are we!
